Definition of Synonym and Antonym.

  

Synonym and Antonym কাহাকে বলে। 



Synonym হলো একটি ভাষার  দুটি বা ততোধিক words বা phrases যা অপর একটি শব্দের সাথে একই অথবা কাছাকাছি অর্থবহন করে। যখন দুটি শব্দের একই অর্থ থাকে তখন আমরা একে synonym বা সমার্থক শব্দ বলি।


Synonym is two or more words or phrases in a language that have the same or close meaning to another word or phrase. Synonyms express the same meaning of another word. We say it is synonymous when two words have similar meaning.


 

Antonym হলো একটি শব্দের বিপরীত অর্থবোধক আর একটি শব্দ। 


Antonym is the opposite meaning of a word to another word. An antonym is a word or phrase which means the opposite sense of another.

Formation of antonym:


dis, il, im, in, ir,non, mis, mal, anti prefix যোগ করে Antonym গঠন করা যায়।


Example:


Connect-disconnect, legal-illegal possible-impossible, decision-in decision, regular-irregular, stop-nonstop, fortune-misfortune treatment-maltreatment, corruption-anti corruption, pleasant -unpleasant.


কিছু শব্দের শেষে less, suffix যুক্ত  করে Antonym গঠন করা যায়।
